Year 1's Fun News!

Year 1 has been making 3D-shapes and painting over them.

We have also had Science Alive come to our school to make things with the lego they brought with them. They taught Year 1 about levers, simple machines, and building things like cars, buildings and paths.

In Maths Year 1 has been writing the numbers 1 to 20 and have been playing bingo numbers.

In Reading Year 1 made posters about how we want the city to be rebuilt and we stuck them on the wire fence by the entrance.

For Writing we have been writing what we want Christchurch to look like and what the Cathedral top should look like. We have also been doing story writing and morning talks.

Year 2's Fun

Hello this is Year 2's blog!

Year 2 has been doing prints with Mrs Tucker (Mrs Tucker is the Year 1 & 2 helper). We have
been using leaves and coins.

Year 2 have also been writing stories about things we have done in the weekend.

We have been reading some interesting books and taking them home and reading them to our Mum and Dad.

For handwriting we have been doing lowercase and capital letters.

As most of you know Science Alive came to our class this term. They taught us about simple machines like cars - it was such fun.

Thank you for reading our blog. We hope you like our news.

Remember to keep checking our blog - we will be adding more to it!

Fun things we do in Year Three.

Year Three have been writing recounts about our teacher hurting herself on her foot. Mrs Walker has recovered now and we are happy and excited that she is back teaching us new things.

Science Alive came to teach Year Three students at our school. They taught us about hot wheels. It was a cool experience.

We have also written prayers and hung them on the fence by the church. Year three enjoyed writing these prayers and all of the other activities we have been doing.

Earlier on this year we did a static image on cars. There were all sort of cars. We also have done a static image on whatever we wanted to.

We have been so busy!

This term the Juniors have been extremely busy. Their topic for the term has been water. In Year 1 they made leaf boats and had fun sailing them in the Avon River. The Year 2's have been experimenting with floating and sinking objects. They also were very excited about the Puffin Party they went to, held at the Christchurch City Library. They have been very creative making constructions out of junk in Art. In Year 3 the class have been very attentive listeners and enjoying Roald Dahl stories. A major event of this term for the Juniors is the Huff 'n' Puff. The juniors have been going for runs around the Avon River and can't wait for the day to come.

Junior Syndicate

The Junior Syndicate have been enjoying the sunny weather and have made a great start to the year.

The Year 1 and 2 classes have been studying Monarch Butterflies. They have been looking after caterpillars, watching them change and setting them free when they are butterflies. Year 1 and 2 have also enjoyed a city walk to view the Floral Festival's topiary animals in Victoria Square.

In a drawing work shop the children learned to draw hedgehogs with Wendy Duggan. The Junior Syndicate also had their swimming tuition week at Aquagym.

Let us hope that the rest of the year will be as successful.

Term 4 update

The Junior Syndicate have participated in many activities lately.

To start with each of the classes have played a vital part in the school play called "JACK". The Year 0 and Year 1 class delighted the audience by playing Chicken Nugget's precious eggs. The year 2 class played Giant 'Amburger's "Think Bigs". The Year 3 class played the "Fe Fi Fo Fums" and assisted "Scratch" and "Sniff" (Giant 'Amburger's left and right hands).

The Junior Syndicate have also been practising for the Athletics Sports. It was a complete success.

Last week the Juniors swam at Aquagym swimming pool from Monday to Friday.

In addition to this some of the classes will be visiting the Art Gallery to study the "White on White" exhibition.

In a nutshell, the Juniors have been doing a great many activities, including swimming at Aquagym, playing parts in the school play, visiting the Art Gallery and taking part in the athletics.
